Hey boys and girls! Long time no update! As promised, I have done a re-design of the website. Nothing huge. Mostly a slight theme change. That along side the new logo that Chris and I designed. I'm pretty happy with it. Much better than the stock image of a light bulb.
Speaking of projects in the works! If you follow us on Instagram (we have an Instagram by the way), Facebook or Twitter, you will have seen that we have started production on a new project. I'll spill this much, it's a feature-length animated project that I am directing. I traveled to Texas to work with Chris and David, as well as several other great people, to do some voice recordings and shoot some reference video for a few bigger sequences. I can guarantee that you'll be hearing more about this film in the future, but release is far, far away. Like seriously, it's a couple years from now. In the meantime, we have started on a few smaller things. But we'll tell you about all of that later. We still have the small promo video we teased a couple posts ago and it's coming soon. The video is totally complete and we're just waiting to release it.
force them to watch those films and talk about them. Chris was first up and let me tell you, torture was a pretty accurate description. He chose a theme of "collect 'em all card game movies" with "Pokemon: The First Movie", "Digimon: The Movie" and "Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie". On my end, I chose a different method. What is it? You'll have to wait to see next week.
Rewinding back when I talked about the trip, we recorded a special episode of the podcast while I was in Texas. You'll be seeing that some time down the line. Hopefully it will be a nice surprise. One last piece of podcast news! I'm not sure if I already said that the show is on Google Play, but it is. Also, we brought back the ability to download episodes off of the website itself for any of you losers who don't have Google Play or iTunes. Just check out the Podcast page and you'll be able to find links to individual episodes along with their Jamie ratings. Anyway, I think that's about it for now. Have a look around. Let me know if you find any problems on the site that I should fix. Put them in a comment or something. More updates soon-ish! -Tyler

Okay, so we had a hard time getting this one together. We initially saw the film on Tuesday accompanied by special guest, David Wayne Young. We recorded the episode that night and it ended in a total disaster with some technical difficulties losing David's audio. We could save it. So David and I re-recorded the episode today. Chris wasn't really up for it. However, I'll just say, Chris loved the movie. Unfortunately, we still had some audio issues on David's end. There's some weird reverb on his voice and a lot of background noise. I can promise you, we will be fixing all of those problem before having him on again (which we will). It may have been a mediocre way to end the "season". But we will be back in November with some new stuff that we haven't really tried before. I'm excited to see how it turns out.
Hey everyone! It’s been a little while since the last update. We’ve been extremely busy with multiple projects. Unfortunately, it’s a bunch of stuff that won’t be seen for a long time. I, myself, have been juggling a lot of projects plus trying to get some other stuff sorted. But you didn’t come here to be teased! You want answers! “What can you guys talk about,” you scream. Well, first of all there is a new episode of the podcast out. In this episode, we chat about the remake of “The Magnificent Seven”. As I probably mention in the episode itself, this one of the last two episodes for “season 2” of the podcast. Usually around this area of time is when we take a small hiatus. This year we opted to take more of a soft break. After our next small episode, we’ll be back in full swing (I think). Another thing we’ve been working on is making another big website update. It will essentially be version 3.0 and it will be the biggest change yet. Not THAT big though.
This podcast was supposed to come out in another week or two. But in celebration of Gene Wilder's birthday, we're releasing it early. That may seem a little irrelevant to a Mel Brooks podcast, but Gene is in all of the movies we talk about. We of course talk about "The Producers", "Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein".
We spend a lot of time rattling off quotes, but I think it's a pretty decent episode. Next time we will be talking about the films of George Lucas. So that should be fun for the whole family! One last thing about this episode! I don't know if the YouTube link in the show notes actually works (our podcast host screws that up some times). So if you're curious about seeing that Blazing Saddles / Force Awakens mash up, it's HERE. Hope everyone enjoys! -Tyler Hey everyone. Jamie here. What’s this? Jamie is actually doing stuff for Illumination Cinema? What? I thought he was Australian? WHAAAAAAAAT?! Well I’m glad you asked. TIME LESS has arrived. Or its up. Or its here. TIME LESS is out is what I’m trying to say. I’m pretty proud of it... the script I mean. Tyler’s animation is woeful. Basically big man Tyler asked me to write a blog thing talking about the process. I said “Maybe” and then he said he would send me his secret stash of Chris memes and I was like “You’ve got yourself a deal mister!” So on with the obligatory “This is how we got here.” It was the summer of 2014 when I was sitting in my theatre scriptwriting class when suddenly I was confronted with an assessment: Write a script. Now me being me, I had written scripts before, all with great fame, such as Housemates, Between The Sheets and of course my most proud creation that I definitely will finish: Legacy. So I thought to myself “This is easy. I got this.” I was wrong. So, so wrong. Our first task was to write a synopsis in 5 minutes for the show we were going to write. And let me tell you, elusive reader, that that particular synopsis was horrendous. It was about two guys on a boat and some chick washes up. It didn’t make much sense. So I changed the chick to a clock and suddenly everything made sense. I decided that I would make it an absurdism piece in the vein of Waiting for Godot and Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead. I chose to do this because absurdism has always been absolutely fascinating to me, the idea that all these random conjectures and weird situations are all a reflection of who we are and what our world is. As I began writing one scene, I started this round in circles dialogue that would begin in one place, tangent out to somewhere ridiculous and miraculously end up where the conversation began. It was entertaining to write. So basically what I’m saying is, I wrote this to make myself have a giggle while trying to do a very serious assessment. I found writing the piece that it became about humans connection to structure and time, and how everything we do in this world is based on a clock. We wander about every day, doing menial tasks that really don’t do anything for our race as a whole and when the clock strikes 12 then “Oh, it’s lunchtime” and then everyone all at once, rushes out to grab food prepared by people whose lives are centered and dependent on the concept that everyone requires food at exactly 12pm. It’s weird. We’re all a bunch of weirdos. So once I found this context, I began to layer the idea of existence and the idea that these two men are having an existential crisis aboard a vessel in a vast ocean with nowhere to go. Sounds a lot like humanity to me. So that’s it really. TIME LESS is us. It’s me showing everyone that our world doesn’t make much sense and we are constantly trying to control things that basically can’t be controlled. Like time. So basically, we should all time less. Ayyyy. In terms of the actual process of making this film, well Tyler just said “Hey I want to animate it” and I said, “Go for it”, then he kept bothering me every month or so with stuff like, “Hey is this animation good?”, “Hows the sound in this bit?” and I said “Yes” every time to shut him up. Now it’s done. I actually did something. Now I must disappear back to my family of Kangaroos and return every year or so to release a trailer for Legacy that actually has nothing to do with Legacy. Thanks for reading, folks. -Jamie Zin P.S. I got the Chris memes.
Hey everyone! Long time no post.
I mentioned a release date for TIME LESS in the previous post. That date being June 3rd. I can now confirm that it will be the official release date! We are now picture locked and Chris has done the sound mix. Basically all we're waiting for is the official seal of approval from Jamie. From there, we'll be working on a couple things for release. The only other thing I have to talk about is the podcast. As you can probably gather, we decided against talking about Money Monster. Not because it's bad or anything. I haven't even seen it yet. I just want to take some more time before jumping back into it. Finishing TIME LESS was important to me and I've also been doing a lot of writing. Lots of work behind the scenes being done right now on various projects. We'll be returning at the end of June and we'll be talking about Mel Brooks films. That's all I've got for you! Bye! -Tyler The movie is up on VHX. It's 3$ to rent, 5$ to own and 8$ to have the movie and the bonus features. I definitely think it's at least worth renting if you've liked our past content. But if you're interested in the process of how we made a feature for $4000 in the middle of nowhere in Kansas, then the bonus material is totally worth it. I'm pretty happy with our 30-minute behind the scenes documentary. There is also a commentary with Chris and I, an outtake reel and some other little gems hidden in the digital booklet we made. But yeah, guys! It's finally out. This is the first of many features that we will be producing. Obviously we won't go into specifics yet. But it will be Chris's turn next. Not only that, but I'm already a third of the way into writing my next one as well. We intend to only make things bigger and better from here and any support for LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT will help tremendously. It honestly feels really great to finally be at a point where we have gotten past the milestone. Now that we've made a feature film, it's just something that we do. I'm so thankful for everyone who was a part of making this one happen. My dedicated producers and the insanely talented cast made it a pretty good first experience for me. Can't wait to do more in the future. But this time, with much more knowledge. So that covers that, I think. We also just released a new podcast episode titled, "Francis Ford Coppola: The Rise and Fall of a Master". I know it's a little late, but I was juggling that with releasing the movie and finishing animation on Time Less.
Anyway, that's pretty much all I've got for you now, guys. More updates when something new comes up.
-Tyler Hey! Just wanted to throw all of this out there before Living After Midnight comes out on Friday. We recorded a podcast on Easter. We talk about a lot of different movies and even touch on Batman v Superman. It came out super late after because our podcast host had an uploading glitch. But who cares. It's up now! We said we were doing Francis Ford Coppola next and we are. It's been super hard for me to find time to sit down and watch these movies with all the work I'm trying to balance. That and the fact that they are like, 3 hours long. Not sure when it will be recorded. I'm going to try to watch the movies here in the next week. Definitely won't come out this week though. What with the movie coming out and all. Also, I'm nearly done animating Time Less. There will still be more work to be done after that. But I figured I'd give an update on that thing you know nearly nothing about. I'm going to ask Jamie to write his own post about that. Make that slacker do some work for once. He probably won't do it though since he's stranded in the outback eating tim tams or what ever the fuck they have in that third-world toilet. I'm really glad he never reads this stuff. :) Stay tuned for Friday, guys!
